About

Women Writing Birmingham, LLC, regularly offers writing classes for women in experientially designed small groups.  Sessions empower women individually and collectively while developing their writing voices.  A woman can expect to write, share writing, and receive and offer requested feedback.  Discussion on common topics and creative process concerns are regular occurrences.  Writing is done in class as well as outside of class time.  Writing projects and plans vary by writer as well level of experience.  All are invited to participate equally.  Providing safe and confidential space in community are key values of the school.

Artist and writer, Lucy Jaffe, MFA, has been published in Cherry Blossom Review, New American Paintings, Project Nature Connections, Sarasvati, and Poet Lore.  Most recently she was included in the 2017 anthology, Voices of Resistance by Sister City Connection.

Jaffe attended classes at Women Writing for (a) Change in Cincinnati, OH, and received certification through WWf(a)C’s Feminist Leadership Academy.  She currently offers semester classes, workshops, and retreats at the writing school she launched in Birmingham, AL.  She has attended workshops and retreats with WWf(a)C Bloomington, Indiana and WWf(a)C Grand Junction Colorado, The Center for Journal Therapy, Wheat Ridge, CO, and the Iowa Summer Writing Festival, Iowa City.

The school will begin its 24th semester in February 2018.
